Nio Breaks Records: Two Consecutive Weeks of 10,000+ Sales Signal Strong Growth

Nio has hit a significant milestone, delivering over 10,000 vehicles per week for two consecutive weeks. This achievement marks a historic moment for the company, showcasing strong momentum in the competitive EV market.

Breaking Down the Numbers

According to prominent automotive blogger Sun Shaojun, Nio Group’s total deliveries surpassed 10,000 units during the week of October 13-19. The Nio brand itself contributed over 4,000 units, while its sub-brand Onvo impressively exceeded 5,000 units. The new urban commuter brand, Firefly, delivered more than 1,500 vehicles. The following week, October 20-26, saw similar impressive figures, with Nio delivering over 4,300 units, Onvo hitting 4,500 units, and Firefly maintaining its pace with 1,500 units. This consistent performance underscores Nio’s expanding market presence and reinforces the growing appeal of its diverse product lineup.

Onvo L90 Leads the Charge

The Onvo L90, a key player in Nio’s portfolio, has truly turned heads. It delivered over 30,000 units in just 86 days, setting a new record for pure electric large SUV deliveries. This performance is a testament to the vehicle’s design, technology, and market reception. Alongside this, production capacity for the new ES8 is on the rise. CEO William Li announced ambitious plans to ramp up monthly production to 15,000 units by December 2025, signaling Nio’s commitment to meeting increasing demand.

Looking Back and Ahead

September was a record-breaking month for Nio, with 34,749 deliveries, marking a substantial 64% year-on-year increase. This builds on August’s strong showing of 31,305 units, showcasing a consistent upward trajectory. The company’s focus on innovation is evident in its future plans. William Li unveiled details about the ES9, a new flagship SUV slated for release in the second quarter of 2026. This vehicle is expected to surpass the current ES8 in size, making it larger than any existing pure electric SUV in China. The current ES8, measuring 5280×2010×1800mm with a 3130mm wheelbase, has already garnered significant market interest, with pre-orders exceeding the 40,000-unit production capacity for 2025. Despite the increased production, customers ordering an ES8 today would face a waiting period until April 2026 for delivery.

The Road to Profitability

Nio’s recent performance in October 2024 is particularly noteworthy. The cumulative sales from the past two weeks alone have already surpassed the entire sales volume of October last year, which stood at 20,976 units. This robust growth is a strong indicator of the company’s trajectory. However, Nio has a clear target: achieving profitability in the fourth quarter of this year. While delivering ten thousand vehicles per week is a fantastic achievement, reaching a monthly sales target of fifty thousand units will be crucial for this final quarter. It’s a challenging goal, but given the current momentum and strategic product launches, it’s not an impossible task for Nio to achieve.
