Leapmotor A10: A New Electric Crossover Challenges the Chinese Market

The electric vehicle scene in China is absolutely buzzing, and the latest contender making waves is the Leapmotor A10 crossover. Fresh off its official unveiling at the Guangzhou Auto Show 2025, this compact EV is now available for reservations, aiming to shake up the market with an aggressive price point under 100,000 yuan (approximately 14,070 USD).

Challenging the Established Players

Leapmotor has clearly set its sights on rivals like the BYD Atto 2 (known as the Yuan Up in China), positioning the A10 as an accessible yet feature-packed option for urban adventurers and budget-conscious buyers alike. This move highlights the intense competition and rapid innovation defining China’s EV landscape.

Design That Blends In and Stands Out

While the A10’s overall silhouette aligns with current compact EV trends, it incorporates some quirky and thoughtful design elements. The rectangular taillights, for instance, feature LED lights that playfully resemble smiling faces, injecting a touch of character. Upfront, you’ll notice a distinctive three-segment headlamp design and functional air ducts, giving the A10 a purposeful stance. A long 1,133-mm bonnet completes the front-end look.

From the side, blackened pillars create a sleek, “floating roof” effect, complemented by a large panoramic roof and stylish 18-inch rims. The charging port is conveniently located in the left front fender. For safety and advanced driver assistance, the A10 prominently features a LiDAR sensor and six blue lights that indicate when its driver assistance systems are active. Buyers will have a choice of six appealing body colors including brown, green, blue, gray, silver, and beige.

Performance and Tech to Impress

The dimensions of the Leapmotor A10 are still under wraps, but it’s designed to be similar in size to the BYD Atto 2, which measures 4,310 mm long, 1,830 mm wide, and 1,675 mm tall. Inside, the A10 promises excellent practicality with a cabin space utilization rate of 88.1%. That means more room for passengers and cargo, making everyday journeys more comfortable.

Underneath the skin, the A10 is quite a capable machine. Official figures state it will achieve up to 500 km of CLTC range on a single charge. Charging is also impressive, with the battery able to go from 30% to 80% in just 16 minutes, adding another 250 km of range, perfect for quick top-ups on the go. Driving assistance is handled by the Snapdragon 8650 chip, while the infotainment system, powering a host of features, runs on the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P processor. This level of chip integration is becoming a standard in the competitive Chinese EV market, offering seamless connectivity and advanced functionalities.

Get Your Reservations In Now

While the Leapmotor A10 is slated for a domestic market launch in the first half of 2026, eager customers can already secure their spot. A reservation can be made for a mere 99 yuan (about 14 USD). For those who want to jump the queue, a 400 yuan (56 USD) booking grants delivery priority once sales officially commence. With its blend of affordability, solid range, and advanced tech, the Leapmotor A10 looks set to be a significant player in the booming Chinese EV market, and with Stellantis backing, it has clear “overseas ambitions” too. The strong performance of other Leapmotor models, like the “Leapmotor B05” electric hatchback, further solidifies the brand’s growing presence and appeal.
