Avatr 06 Wagon Spy Shots Hint at an Expanding EV Lineup

Spy photos out of China show what appears to be a wagon version of the Avatr 06 hitting the streets for testing. This suggests that Avatr, a premium electric vehicle brand backed by Changan, CATL, and Huawei, might be gearing up to broaden its offerings beyond just sedans and crossovers. The prototype spotted sports an elongated roofline and an extended rear, giving it that distinct wagon or shooting brake vibe. However, Avatr has not officially confirmed any plans for such a model.

Avatr 06: A Closer Look

The Avatr 06 currently holds its spot as the brand’s mid-size model, offering both extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) and pure electric vehicle (EV) variants. The recently introduced Elite trim slots neatly between the Pro and Max grades. It’s priced at 219,900 yuan (around 30,800 USD) for the EREV and 229,900 yuan (roughly 32,200 USD) for the EV, based on current exchange rates. The car comes loaded with Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 4 intelligent driving system, a 192-line LiDAR sensor, and the HarmonySpace 5 intelligent cockpit, showcasing the latest in Avatr and Huawei’s tech partnership.

In terms of its footprint, the Avatr 06 measures 4,855 mm long, 1,960 mm wide, and 1,450 mm tall, with a wheelbase stretching 2,940 mm. Its exterior design boldly embraces Avatr’s 2.0 design language, featuring sleek, dual-strip 7-shaped daytime running lights and a unique Halo interactive display perched above the windshield. Step inside, and you are greeted by a massive 35.4-inch 4K panoramic screen, a 15.6-inch central display, and an immersive 25-speaker Meridian audio system.

The Wagon Market in China

If this Avatr 06 wagon makes it to production, it would join a select group of premium electric wagons in China. This niche but growing segment already includes the Huawei backed Stelato S9T station wagon, which starts at 309,800 yuan (43,550 USD), the Zeekr 007 GT, available from 199,900 yuan (28,100 USD), and the Audi E5 Sportback, starting at 235,900 yuan (33,150 USD). This market has seen increased activity as Chinese consumers look for versatile yet stylish electric options.

Power and Performance

It is likely the wagon variant would keep the sedan’s powertrain options. This includes a potent 252 kW (338 hp) pure electric version offering a 650 km CLTC range and a 231 kW (310 hp) EREV model, which boasts a combined range of 1,190 km. The pure electric version’s range would make it a strong contender for daily use, while the EREV option provides impressive long-distance capability. Given the prototype is still under heavy camouflage, Avatr has not yet released any timeline for its official debut.

The potential launch of an Avatr 06 wagon underlines Avatr’s ambition to carve out a larger share in the competitive Chinese EV market. With its blend of advanced technology, sleek design, and practical versatility, this wagon could be a compelling option for those seeking a premium electric vehicle that stands out from the crowd. Keep an eye out for more updates as Avatr continues its road testing.
