China’s largest new energy vehicle (NEV) maker BYD has brought its flash charging technology to Europe as its premium sub-brand Denza launches new models there.
Denza held a launch event at the Palais Garnier in Paris, France, on Wednesday, introducing the Denza Z9GT and Denza D9 to the European public.
As a flagship shooting brake model, the Denza Z9GT has an official pre-sales price of about 115,000 euros ($134,160) across seven European countries, including France and Germany.
The Z9GT, serving as the brand’s flagship shooting brake, is built on the e3 technology platform and offers both pure electric and hybrid powertrain options. The pure electric variant can accelerate from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in just 2.7 seconds, complemented by independent rear-wheel steering technology.
The D9 DM-i, a flagship MPV, delivers a pure electric range of 210 kilometers and a combined range of 950 kilometers on a full tank and full charge.
Another core highlight of the European launch event was the regional debut of BYD’s newly developed 1,500-kW ultra-high-power flash charging technology.
Based on BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery, the fast-charging technology can charge a vehicle’s battery to 70% in five minutes and fully charge it in nine minutes.
The Shenzhen-based company plans to build 6,000 overseas flash charging stations globally by the end of 2026, with 3,000 of them located in Europe.
The Denza brand is accelerating its strategic expansion in the European market, aiming to break long-standing sales barriers in the traditional overseas premium auto market.
By the end of 2026, the brand plans to cover more than 30 European countries and establish over 150 retail stores in local auto markets.
Additionally, to further enhance its global profile, Denza has announced internationally renowned actor Daniel Craig as its global brand ambassador.
