At the 2026 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, the 212 off-road brand officially launched its first ecosystem series, “METTA,” under the theme “Vast World · METTA Realm.” The brand globally debuted two new models: the T01 METTA and the T01 METTA Badain Jaran. The T01 METTA is priced at 189,900 RMB (approx. $26,200), while the T01 METTA Badain Jaran is priced at 219,900 RMB (approx. $30,350).
As the inaugural release of the METTA lineup, the T01 METTA is built upon the 212 brand’s rugged off-road DNA, infused with a modern and sophisticated aesthetic that represents “avant-garde classicism.” It targets both seasoned off-road enthusiasts and the new generation of light off-road users, offering “all-around balance” and “extreme performance” options.
The T01 METTA features a traditional body-on-frame construction with front and rear solid axles, complemented by electronic differential locks and a part-time four-wheel-drive system. Under the hood, it is powered by a 2.0T engine paired with a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain delivers a maximum output of 185 kW and a peak torque of 410 N·m, with the transmission capable of handling up to 500 N·m. Its BorgWarner transfer case provides a 2.64x torque multiplication in 4L mode.
The vehicle offers 10 driving modes, including crawl control and tank turn, allowing for seamless transitions between urban streets and wild terrain. In terms of equipment, the new model is outfitted with a 360-degree panoramic camera with a transparent chassis view, electric side steps, a heated steering wheel, and premium comfort features such as heated, ventilated, and massaging driver seats.
Beyond the standard T01 METTA, 212 introduced an advanced version: the T01 METTA Badain Jaran. Named after China’s third-largest desert and a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its massive sand dunes, this model is built for extreme challenges. It features a 1.5-inch suspension lift, K-Man adjustable nitrogen shocks for superior ground clearance, 33-inch BFGoodrich KO3 all-terrain tires, and a factory-installed high-mount snorkel providing a maximum wading depth of 910mm. Visually, the Badain Jaran edition comes equipped with an exclusive off-road package, including an integrated mechanical rear ladder, a “Wind-Chaser” mechanical roof wing, and armored-style taillight covers.
