SAIC MG teases MG 07 sedan to expand EV lineup

MG Motor, a brand under SAIC Motor (SHA: 600104), has teased its all-new MG 07 sedan, targeting China’s mainstream electric vehicle (EV) market.

MG shared several official images of the MG 07 on Weibo on Saturday, revealing what is expected to be a mid- to large-size electric sedan.

The new model is expected to hit the market later this year, with prices estimated to range from 150,000 yuan ($22,060) to 200,000 yuan.

The vehicle shown in the images features a striking purple exterior, aimed at attracting younger consumers seeking pure colors and an elegant stance.

The new car adopts a large fastback design signature to pure-electric coupes, combined with short front overhangs and a long wheelbase to optimize the vehicle’s aerodynamics.

A notable configuration detail is the inclusion of a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor.

This makes the MG 07 the first model under the MG brand to feature LiDAR, suggesting it will be equipped with advanced driver-assistance capabilities.

Currently, the EV models sold by the MG brand primarily include the pure-electric hatchback MG4 EV and the convertible sports car MG Cyberster.

The budget-focused MG4 EV currently has an official starting price of 68,800 yuan, which drops to 65,800 yuan after limited-time subsidies.

The MG Cyberster sports car currently has an official suggested retail price ranging from about 319,800 yuan to 365,800 yuan.

In addition, MG teased a pure-electric SUV model, the MG 4X, on May 7, which will begin accepting pre-orders on May 11.

The MG 4X will be equipped with a semi-solid-state battery and offer a range of at least 510 kilometers, according to previously disclosed information.
