Xpeng X9 EREV: A 7-Seater MPV with Serious Range and Tech

The 2025 Auto Guangzhou played host to the official launch of the Xpeng X9 Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) version, an MPV that’s shaking up the family hauler segment. Priced from 309,800 yuan (about 43,400 USD) to 329,800 yuan (roughly 46,200 USD), the X9 EREV offers two trims, packing a “Starship Universe” intelligent cockpit into its spacious 7-seater design.

Performance and Range That Go the Distance

Under the hood, this Xpeng X9 EREV uses the Kunpeng Super EREV system. It’s an advanced setup, featuring an 800V high-voltage architecture and 5C fast-charging capability. What does that mean for you? It translates to a staggering CLTC pure electric range of 452km, and when you combine fuel and electric power, you get an impressive 1602km of total range. That’s seriously liberating for long family trips or just day-to-day use without range anxiety. The system includes a DAM15NTE 1.5T range extender with a thermal efficiency of 43.06% producing 110kW of power, paired with an electric motor that delivers a maximum of 210 kW (282 hp). A 63.3 kWh battery pack and a 60L fuel tank complete the package, offering a fuel consumption rate of 6.4L/100km. Plus, with 5C fast charging, you can add 313km of pure electric range in just 10 minutes, and charge from 10% to 80% in a mere 11.7 minutes. The X9 EREV even provides 6kW V2V/V2L external power discharge capabilities, which is super handy for outdoor adventures or powering your home in a pinch.

Redesigned Looks and Spacious Comfort

The X9 EREV isn’t just about efficient power, it also sports a fresh, bold face. The front bumper air intake is about 30% larger than the pure electric version, flanked by striking dual-segment three-dimensional cooling ducts and through-type LED daytime running lights. A new “Aurora Green” color certainly turns heads. From the side, the floating roof design, achieved by hidden A, B, C, and D pillars, gives it a sleek profile. It’s also a bit longer than its pure electric sibling, measuring 5316mm in length, 1988mm in width, 1785mm in height, and boasts a 3160mm wheelbase.

Inside, you’re greeted by a 17.3-inch central control screen and a 10.25-inch LCD instrument cluster, all powered by a zippy Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P cockpit chip. The interior layout largely mirrors the pure electric version, which means a well-thought-out and comfortable space. A 21-inch panoramic HUD (Head-Up Display) is a neat touch, offering lane-level navigation integrated with SR (Spatial Recognition) environment display, keeping your eyes on the road. The second row pampers passengers with dual zero-gravity seats, complete with control buttons on the armrests, and a 21.4-inch entertainment screen. Even the third-row seats are versatile, with adjustment, backrest folding, and a clever flip-and-stow functionality, plus a 4/6 split-folding capability.

Advanced Driver-Assistance and Robust Safety

When it comes to smarts, the Xpeng X9 EREV pulls no punches. It’s equipped with three Turing AI chips, delivering a hefty 2250 TOPS of computing power. Two of these chips are dedicated to the VLA large model for assisted driving, while the third powers the VLM large model for the intelligent cockpit. Safety is paramount, too. The X9 EREV utilizes integrated front and rear die-casting technology, with ultra-high-strength steel reaching 2000MPa. Its torsional rigidity clocks in at an impressive 46000N·m/deg, and a high-strength cage body, combined with nine airbags, means you’re well protected. This focus on driver assistance and safety features is becoming increasingly common in the competitive Chinese EV market, with companies like BYD rolling out advanced ADAS systems and Volkswagen even partnering with Xpeng for autonomous driving tech.
