October 2025 has been a monumental month for Chinese New Energy Vehicle (NEV) startups, with several brands hitting new sales highs and showcasing their growing influence in the global automotive landscape. Leapmotor, in particular, has maintained its top position, demonstrating consistent growth and an expanding product lineup.
Leapmotor Continues Its Dominance
Leapmotor once again took the crown, reporting an impressive 70,289 vehicles sold in October. This figure not only marks the first time the company has surpassed the 70,000 unit threshold but also represents a year-on-year increase of over 84%. This achievement solidifies Leapmotor’s leadership, marking its eighth consecutive month at the top of the NEV startup sales rankings for 2025.
The innovation continues for Leapmotor with the recent pre-sale launch of the D19 EREV crossover in China on November 1. Looking ahead, enthusiasts can anticipate the pre-sale of the Leapmotor B05, known locally as the Lafa 5, starting November 7. The brand is also set to unveil its all-new Leapmotor A10 at the Guangzhou Auto Show in late November, signaling an aggressive push into new segments.
HIMA’s Rapid Ascent
The Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) also celebrated a record breaking October, delivering 68,216 vehicles. This surge in sales is particularly notable given their average transaction price of 390,000 yuan (approximately 54,800 USD), indicating strong consumer confidence in their premium offerings. HIMA’s journey has been remarkable, with cumulative sales exceeding one million vehicles, making it the fastest NEV startup to reach this significant milestone.
Xpeng’s Consistent Growth and Global Ambition
Xpeng maintained its strong performance, delivering 42,013 vehicles in October. This marks a 76% increase year-on-year and a 1% rise month-on-month, proudly being the second consecutive month with sales over 40,000 units. The company’s year-to-date performance is equally impressive, with a total of 355,209 vehicles delivered in the first ten months of 2025, a 190% increase over the previous year.
Xpeng is also making significant strides in environmental sustainability. The company estimates that the electric vehicles it delivered during this period will reduce carbon emissions by over 5.56 million tons throughout their lifecycle. This is roughly equivalent to the carbon absorption of 91.96 million medium-sized tree seedlings over a decade.
In a strategic move to expand its global footprint, Xpeng entered seven additional countries in October: Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Cambodia, Morocco, Tunisia, and Qatar. This expansion highlights Xpeng’s ambition to become a major player in the international EV market, bringing its advanced technology and sustainable mobility solutions to a wider audience.
