The automotive world just witnessed a wild spectacle, as the Geely Galaxy V900 minivan managed to cram an astounding 42 people inside its cabin, officially earning a Guinness World Record. This Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) variant made its debut at the 2025 Guangzhou Auto Show, showcasing some serious interior space.
A World-Record-Holding Interior
Geely Galaxy boasts that its V900 offers a class-leading interior area of an impressive 8.41 square meters, achieving a staggering 91.8% space utilization rate. This incredible feat of fitting 42 female dancers was actually achieved back on October 27, but the automaker held onto the news until the minivan’s impending sales launch. With an average height of 170 cm (around 5’6″) for those packed inside, it’s clear this minivan isn’t messing around when it comes to maximizing internal volume.
While 42 people in a minivan is certainly attention-grabbing, it’s worth noting that other vehicles have pulled off similar stunts. Back in 2015, a Toyota Rav4 managed to squeeze in 41 individuals, and a Volkswagen campervan went even further, accommodating 50 people. Still, a record is a record, and it highlights the sheer roominess of the V900.
Under the Hood and Inside the Cabin
This new Geely Galaxy V900 is the EREV cousin to the all-electric LEVC L380 multi-purpose vehicle. It’s a substantial machine, measuring in at 5360mm long, 1998mm wide, and 1940mm tall, with a generous 3200mm wheelbase. It rides on either 18-inch or 20-inch wheels and offers optional power side steps for easier access.
Underneath that sleek body, you’ll find a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol generator churning out 120 kW (161 hp) of peak power. The V900 offers two ternary NMC battery options, either 43.3 kWh or 50 kWh, providing an electric range of 165 to 202 km under CLTC conditions. However, some argue that large EREV batteries can be wasteful, despite their impressive range figures. When running on a drained battery, expect a fuel consumption of 7-7.2 liters per 100 km. While Geely hasn’t spilled the beans on electric motor specifics or pricing just yet, expect more details as it gears up for market entry.
Inside, the V900 is surprisingly versatile. You can opt for a three-row, six-seat configuration, which leaves you with a substantial 919mm of trunk depth. If you need even more seating, there’s also a four-row, eight-seat option, though that shrinks trunk depth to 347mm. Still, the fourth-row seats neatly fold flat into a floor recess, offering impressive flexibility for cargo when passengers aren’t occupying every possible spot. It’s clear Geely designed this minivan to be as adaptable as possible, whether you’re moving an entire dance troupe or just a mountain of luggage for a family road trip. The V900 is set to be a significant contender in the Chinese EV market where minivans are gaining popularity. For example, the Wuling Hongguang EREV is also making waves with its extended range capabilities.
This record-breaking act really shows off the V900’s dedication to maximizing interior space, making it a noteworthy addition to the growing lineup of electric vehicles in China. Geely Galaxy unveiled the V900 MPV at the 2025 Auto Guangzhou, pushing the boundaries of what a minivan can offer. Keep an eye out for this roomy contender as it hits the roads soon.
