At the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, Beijing Hyundai officially launched its new brand strategy and introduced the IONIQ brand to the Chinese market. Positioned as a fusion of “Global Quality and Chinese Wisdom,” IONIQ represents Hyundai’s latest push into the New Energy Vehicle (NEV) sector in China.
The brand’s lineup is built on the dedicated E-GMP electric platform, which supports both Battery Electric (BEV) and Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) powertrains. Key technical highlights include an 800V fast-charging architecture and high-efficiency electric drive systems. On the intelligence front, the vehicles integrate flagship cabin chips from Qualcomm, autonomous driving tech from Momenta, batteries from CATL, and software ecosystems powered by Baidu’s Wenxin LLM and ByteDance’s Volcano Engine.
The design of the IONIQ brand is led by the Hyundai China Design Center, ensuring the vehicles are tailored specifically for Chinese consumers while maintaining the potential for global export.
Making its global debut at the show was the IONIQ V. The new model features a sophisticated multi-faceted 3D design optimized for low aerodynamic drag. It sports “Dimension Blade” light units and a split-headlight configuration. The side profile is characterized by frameless doors and “V-Motion” wheels. In terms of dimensions, the IONIQ V measures 4,900mm in length, 1,890mm in width, and 1,470mm in height, with a generous 2,900mm wheelbase.
Inside, the IONIQ V features a “Nebula Wrap-around” interior design centered around a massive 27-inch ultra-thin 4K display. The cabin is further enhanced by “Nebula Shadow” ambient lighting and a “Cyber Eye” Head-Up Display (HUD), creating a high-tech atmosphere for passengers.
