On April 22, smart officially embarked on a new chapter during its global brand gala in Beijing. Under the theme “Renewed Perspective,” the brand hosted the global debut of two pivotal models: the smart #2 Concept and the smart #6 EHD. smart also announced that it will expand its global product portfolio from three to five models this year, significantly accelerating its international expansion. The smart #6 EHD is scheduled to begin pre-sales at the Beijing Auto Show on April 24, with an official market launch in mid-June. The production version of the smart #2 is slated for its global premiere in Paris in October 2026.
The smart #6 EHD adopts a sleek coupe silhouette, continuing the Mercedes-Benz “Sensual Purity” design language. Inspired by the streamlined form of a shark, the front end features headlights connected by a biomimetic “shark-kiss” through-type air duct. The front bumper emphasizes a sporty character, while the roof is equipped with LiDAR for advanced driver assistance.
A standout feature is the lighting system, which integrates a staggering 10,666 millimeter-level LED micro-dots (4,508 in the front and 6,158 in the rear). Powered by the PixelTalk intelligent interaction system, it supports over 20 preset light effects and customizable hand-drawn light languages.
Measuring 4,906 mm in length, 1,922 mm in width, and 1,508 mm in height, with a 2,926 mm wheelbase, the smart #6 EHD is positioned as a mid-size car. It offers five exterior colors: Moon Porcelain White, Particle White, Spacetime Blue, Pulse Yellow, and Matte Grey. The vehicle sits on 19-inch low-drag vortex wheels or 20-inch Supernova wheels, both wrapped in high-performance Continental EC7S tires.
The rear features a hatchback design with an active spoiler that offers four adjustable stages (up to 34°) to enhance high-speed stability. Inside, the cabin follows the Mercedes-Benz aesthetic with circular elements and a dual-screen setup (center console + passenger screen). It is powered by the flagship AMD V2000 cockpit chip and features a 25.6-inch AR-HUD. The audio experience is provided by a 20-speaker Sennheiser system with a 7.1.4 layout and Dolby Atmos support.
Under the hood, the smart #6 EHD is equipped with a 1.5T plug-in hybrid system. The engine delivers 120 kW, contributing to a total system output of 320 kW, paired with a 3-speed DHT dedicated hybrid transmission. With a 41.46 kWh battery, it achieves a pure electric range of 285 km (CLTC) and a staggering total range of 1,810 km.
The smart #2 Concept is built on smart’s newly developed Electric Compact Architecture (ECA), representing a modern evolution of the classic two-seater. While it retains the iconic silhouette of the original fortwo, the design has been completely modernized.
The concept features triangular headlights with semi-enclosed LED sources and a closed front grille. The two-tone body and large wheels with semi-enclosed covers give it a nimble, premium appearance. Despite its compact total length of just 2,792 mm, the “four wheels at the corners” layout maximizes interior space. Its ultra-tight turning diameter of 6.95 meters makes it the ultimate tool for urban navigation and parking.
The smart #2 Concept targets a CLTC range of 400 km. It supports DC fast charging, capable of replenishing the battery from 10% to 80% in under 20 minutes. It also features Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, catering to the outdoor power needs of urban users.
In the competitive mid-size NEV market, the smart #6 EHD will face rivals like the Tesla Model 3, Avatr 06, and BYD Seal. While many competitors focus on rear-wheel-drive performance, the smart #6 prioritizes interior space, efficiency, and a premium lifestyle experience. These new models represent smart’s evolution into a more comprehensive brand, catering to sophisticated urban dwellers who value both heritage and cutting-edge technology.
