On May 8, Avatr officially released teaser images of its upcoming updated model, currently referred to in industry reports as the “Avatr 07L.” The new iteration features a stretched wheelbase and upgraded hardware, signaling a significant mid-cycle enhancement for the brand’s popular mid-size SUV.
While the test vehicle remains heavily camouflaged, it is clear that the model retains the signature front-end design language of the current Avatr 07, characterized by its distinctive, high-recognition lighting units. A closer look at the side profile reveals a redesigned front fender area, which now integrates a modified camera housing, suggesting the inclusion of additional sensor components. Industry insiders anticipate that the vehicle will be equipped with Huawei’s latest 896-line LiDAR system, further bolstering its intelligent driving capabilities.
The most notable change is the extended wheelbase, which aims to provide significantly more legroom for rear-seat passengers. For context, the current Avatr 07 measures 4,825mm in length with a 2,940mm wheelbase. Other exterior modifications include a shift from the current flush-mounted door handles to a semi-hidden design. At the rear, the repositioned logo suggests that the taillight assembly may also undergo a styling revision.
While official technical specifications remain under wraps, the new model is expected to continue offering both extended-range (EREV) and battery-electric (BEV) powertrain options. The current Avatr 07 offers a maximum pure electric range of up to 333 km for the EREV version and up to 650 km for the BEV version (CLTC cycle). Whether there will be further refinements to the battery and electric drive systems remains to be seen. Stay tuned for more updates as the official launch approaches.
