2026 ONVO L90 Launched: Large Electric SUV Now Features LiDAR and Starts at Just $24,800 with Battery Subscription

On April 21, ONVO officially launched the 2026 L90, its flagship large SUV. The new model is available in five configurations, with full purchase prices ranging from 265,800 to 299,800 RMB ($36,660 – $41,350). For customers opting for the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) subscription model, the entry price drops significantly to a range of 179,800 to 213,800 RMB ($24,800 – $29,490). A major highlight of this update is the introduction of a LiDAR-equipped version, which will be sold alongside the existing vision-only model. Deliveries for the 2026 ONVO L90 are scheduled to begin nationwide on May 9.

The 2026 L90 maintains the brand’s signature design language, featuring highly recognizable split headlights dubbed “Star Path” smart interactive pixel lights. These units support five static and four dynamic light signatures, along with ADB adaptive high-beam functionality and dynamic cornering illumination. The vehicle measures 5,145 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, and 1,786 mm in height, with a generous 3,110 mm wheelbase. Two new dual-tone color schemes, Purple Gold and Silver Purple, have been added to the palette.

Practicality remains a core focus, with the L90 retaining its 240-liter electric frunk. The frunk features a low 600 mm loading height and a wide 830 mm opening, allowing it to double as a “scenic sofa” when parked. It can be opened via a double-tap on the hood, smartphone app, voice command, or the central touchscreen. The new LiDAR version is powered by NIO’s self-developed Shenji NX9031 chip, running the SkyOS operating system. This hardware allows the vehicle to process data from 25 high-definition cameras and LiDAR simultaneously with ultra-low latency, significantly improving emergency braking response times.

The side profile features a dual-waistline design, complemented by silent electric suction doors and electric side steps. At the rear, the design has been streamlined by removing the “ONVO” lettering for a cleaner look. A new 30-liter hidden trunk refrigerator is now available, capable of cooling from -18°C to 10°C. This fridge supports remote control via smartphone and can operate for an entire day while consuming less than one kWh of energy.

Inside, the L90 continues to offer both six- and seven-seat layouts. The cabin is wrapped in Nappa leather, with 12-way power-adjustable front seats and 10-way power zero-gravity seats in the second row. Tech enthusiasts will appreciate the 17.3-inch 3K ceiling-mounted entertainment screen, an 8-inch rear control screen, and a 23-speaker Onvo Sound Premium system. A massive panoramic sunroof and 256-color ambient lighting round out the premium interior experience.

Performance is robust across the lineup. The single-motor RWD version produces 340 kW, achieving 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. The dual-motor AWD variant pumps out 440 kW, slashing the 0-100 km/h sprint to just 4.1 seconds. All models come standard with an 85 kWh battery pack, providing a CLTC range of up to 605 km for the RWD and 570 km for the AWD version. Built on a 900V high-voltage architecture, the L90 can charge from 10% to 80% in just 25 minutes. Furthermore, it is fully compatible with NIO’s third- and fourth-generation battery swap stations, enabling a full “refuel” in just three minutes.

The 2026 ONVO L90 enters a competitive market, facing off against rivals like the Leapmotor D19 and Deepal S09, as well as traditional mainstays like the Toyota Highlander. With its blend of massive interior space, cutting-edge LiDAR technology, and the convenience of NIO’s battery swap network, the L90 remains a formidable contender in the large electric SUV segment.
