Lexus Unveils the TZ: A New Flagship Three-Row Electric SUV for Global Markets

Lexus has officially unveiled the TZ, its new flagship three-row electric SUV, marking a significant expansion of the brand’s battery-electric vehicle (BEV) lineup. Measuring 5,100mm in length with a 3,050mm wheelbase, the TZ is designed to offer a premium, spacious experience with a focus on advanced technology and comfort. The vehicle is scheduled to launch in markets including Japan and North America in the winter of 2026.

The TZ embodies Lexus’s “Discover Limitless” design philosophy. The front fascia features a modernized interpretation of the brand’s signature spindle grille, now closed and adopting a more trapezoidal shape to suit its electric powertrain. The iconic lightning-bolt-style headlights remain, ensuring the vehicle is instantly recognizable as a Lexus.

In profile, the SUV showcases a robust stance with prominent wheel arches and an upward-sweeping character line that enhances its athletic aesthetic. The blacked-out D-pillar creates a floating roof effect, adding a touch of contemporary sophistication. The TZ measures 5,100mm long, 1,990mm wide, and 1,705mm tall, and will be available with either 20-inch or 22-inch wheels.

The rear design is clean and minimalist, highlighted by a full-width LED taillight bar that integrates with an illuminated Lexus logo. Vertical design elements on the sides of the rear bumper help to visually lower the vehicle’s center of gravity.

Inside, the cabin emphasizes “Oriental luxury,” featuring forged bamboo trim sourced from Shikoku. The dashboard layout varies by trim, with higher-end models featuring a massive dual-screen setup for the infotainment and passenger displays, while entry-level versions utilize a floating central touchscreen. The interior also includes a head-up display (HUD), a digital instrument cluster, and a multi-function steering wheel. Notably, Lexus has retained several physical buttons for key controls, and the center console houses a wireless charging pad and an electronic gear selector.

The TZ features a 2+2+3 seating configuration. All seats are heated, while the first and second rows also benefit from ventilation. The second row offers “zero-gravity” seats for maximum comfort. Additional premium amenities include a fragrance system, a 21-speaker audio system, and six Japanese-inspired ambient lighting themes. A unique feature is the simulated engine sound system, which replicates the iconic roar of the LFA’s V10 engine.

Under the hood, the TZ is powered by a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. Each motor produces 167kW, resulting in a combined system output of 300kW (approximately 402 horsepower). This allows the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds.

The vehicle is equipped with a 95.82kWh battery pack, providing a CLTC-rated range of 640km (when equipped with 22-inch wheels). Fast charging from 10% to 80% takes approximately 35 minutes. Furthermore, the TZ comes with rear-wheel steering, vehicle-to-load (V2L) capabilities, and a towing capacity of 1,500kg.
