On May 9, the latest filing from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) revealed the first official images and specifications for the all-new MG 07, a mid-size sedan from the MG brand news and updates. Built on a brand-new platform, the MG 07 is expected to target the competitive 150,000 to 200,000 RMB ($20,700 – $27,600 USD) price segment. The model will be available in both pure electric (BEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) configurations, with a market launch scheduled for later this year.
In terms of design, the MG 07 adopts a fresh aesthetic language, reminiscent of the MG5 concept vehicle revelation. The front fascia features a closed-off grille (on the EV version), complemented by a “star-ring” full-width lighting signature and distinctive 7-shaped light clusters on both sides, ensuring strong visual recognition. The vehicle measures 4,886 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,478 mm (or 1,485 mm) in height, with a wheelbase of 2,825 mm, firmly placing it in the mid-size sedan category.
From the side profile, the car utilizes semi-flush door handles and features body-colored wheels paired with eye-catching yellow brake calipers, catering to the tastes of younger consumers. The rear end is highlighted by a full-width taillight assembly, with the MG logo positioned prominently below, creating a clean and layered look. Regarding intelligent driving, the MG 07 will be equipped with LiDAR and will utilize the Momenta R7 “Reinforced World Model” solution, powered by a dedicated X7 self-developed large model chip.
Under the hood, the pure electric version is powered by a drive motor (model TZ185XY1181) manufactured by SAIC Transmission, delivering a maximum output of 176 kW. The plug-in hybrid version features a 1.5L engine (model 15FHC) produced by SAIC Motor, with a maximum engine power of 82 kW, paired with an electric drive motor boasting a peak power of 152 kW.
