Shares of Nio Inc climbed to a five-month high in Hong Kong trading as the EV maker prepares for the debut of its flagship ES9 SUV.
As of press time, Nio advanced 2.56% to HK$52.05 per share in Hong Kong, extending its gains for the fourth consecutive trading day.
This marks the stock’s highest trading price since November 12, 2025, rebounding roughly 50% from a low of HK$34.82 reached at the end of February this year.
By comparison, local peer Xpeng fell 4.38% as of press time on Thursday, while Li Auto slipped 0.89%.
Nio’s share price rally over the past few months has also been driven by a rebound in deliveries, particularly of the third-generation ES8 SUV, as well as a historic first-ever quarterly profit.
The first batch of Nio ES9 display vehicles has now arrived at retail stores across China, with the official debut of the large SUV just hours away.
The tech event is scheduled to kick off at 7 pm Beijing time on April 9, where the pre-sales price and detailed technical specifications of the ES9 are expected to be announced.
Nio’s most premium model currently is the ET9 sedan, which starts at 768,000 yuan ($112,390), providing a pricing benchmark for the upcoming ES9.
The official launch of the full-size electric SUV is expected to take place in late May, while the first customer deliveries are slated to officially begin on June 1.
According to earlier regulatory filings, the ES9 measures 5,365 millimeters in length with a wheelbase of 3,250 mm, a massive footprint that surpasses the third-generation ES8.
The vehicle is expected to be equipped with Nio’s latest generation of core research and development achievements, including the in-house developed Shenji NX9031 autonomous driving chip and the SkyRide chassis system.
Nio released a winter testing video of the ES9 last month to demonstrate its handling in extreme cold environments, showing the vehicle successfully passing a tire blowout test conducted at a high speed of 150 kilometers per hour.
The test videos also showcased a comparison between the ES9 and the smaller Firefly EV navigating narrow roads, suggesting that the large SUV will boast a turning radius and agility comparable to that of a compact car.
