Nio’s latest move might just shake up the family SUV market. They’ve rolled out a 5-seat version of their popular ES8 SUV, aiming to attract a wider range of customers. The 5-seat ES8 debuted at an event recently, and deliveries are set to kick off on July 10. You can snag the Executive Luxury version starting at 382,800 yuan (around $56,340) if you buy outright, or 274,800 yuan if you opt for the BaaS (battery as a service) rental scheme. The Executive Signature trim comes in at 422,800 yuan for a full purchase, or 314,800 yuan with the battery rental. This pricing strategy is savvy, coming in 24,000 yuan (about 5.9%) cheaper than the 3-row ES8, which had a starting price of 406,800 yuan.
Pre-orders opened on June 28, with a 5,000-yuan deposit allowing customers to knock 10,000 yuan off the purchase price. It’s clear Nio is serious about making this model appealing to families who might have been on the fence.

However, the anticipation of the 5-seater has led to a noticeable dip in sales recently, with June deliveries dropping to 8,969 units—a 21.85% decrease from the previous month.
